1st Grade Emotions :) :( ;)
This week in dance we are talking about.... Emotions. Most of my students have seen the popular movie Inside Out and they have a fun understanding of what the emotions are! There are many more that we discussed in class, and we came up with movements and steps that define all of the emotions in a poem we read.

This week in dance...learning Tap!
The students are learning Shuffle Step, Shuffle Hop Step and Shuffle Ballchange. The beauty of Tap is all about the sounds, patterns and rhythms we hear. Just like a math problem, all of the sounds are part of the equation. In order to get the final product, every sound must be heard!
About Mrs. Evans
I was born and raised in Oklahoma, and moved here to Texas in 2012. I have been dancing since the age of 3 under the direction of Melissa Curtis at Melissa's Dance Studio in Tahlequah, OK. I grew up taking Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Pointe, Clog, and Lyrical. I was fortunate to be asked to teach at the studio as well during my college career. I also directed a competition group with my senior dancers traveling to competitions with group numbers and solo performances. My degree is from Northeastern State University in Visual Communications: Photography with a minor in Business. Upon first moving to TX I pursued my passion for photography but soon found an opportunity to teach dance at a Fine Arts preschool in Euless, TX. I realized I loved teaching and decided to get my Alternative Teaching Certification in EC-6th grade and Dance. I feel blessed to be a part of the Corey Fine Arts and Dual Language team, teaching dance to these wonderful students!
